There’s little wrong with Laughing Lion (except they won’t ship outside of the States).

But that could be a logistics issue more than anything else, considering Matt’s already got his hands full.

Laughing Lion is an AKA-certified kratom company that uses a cGMP facility. With hundreds of reviews plastered across the internet, they somehow maintain an average rating of 4.75 out of 5. My experience agrees with the outstanding reviews. The kratom is a little pricey, but worth it.

Truly, kratom vendors don’t get much better than this.

About the Company

Laughing Lion Herbs has a unique marketing approach, so, naturally, it has a unique back story. The company was started by just one guy who identifies as Matthew.

For whatever reason, Mathew was disillusioned with the IT career he’d pursued for 15 years and decided to make a fast shift once he discovered his passion for natural medicine.

He doesn’t specify why but says that kratom was fascinating to him. Since he already owned a business in the IT space, it wasn’t hard for him to transfer his skill set over to the kratom market. This also allowed him to implement features like the Laughing Lion Herbs mobile app.

That said, the project still began humbly. Laughing Lion Herbs originated in Matt’s garage, where he would weigh and distribute bulk orders of 10 or 20 kilograms to friends and customers. His first goal was to reinvest so he could order more kratom.

But, like many businesses destined for success, Laughing Lion Herbs couldn’t stay small. Soon enough, it expanded until it became the thriving, multi-product marketplace we see today.

Although their “Infinity Enhanced Ultra Green Maeng Da” might be discontinued, that doesn’t mean the rest of their Maeng Da isn’t worthwhile. Green Maeng Da is arguably the most popular kratom strain, and that’s not without reason.

“Maeng Da” is a Thai term meaning “pimp grade” and designates the cream of the crop, so strains stamped with Maeng Da are usually the most potent.

Laughing Lion’s Green Maeng Da provides the full range of kratom effects. I enjoyed the stimulation and focus provided early on and relaxation as it started to wear off.

Laughing Lion Herbs Electrobuzz

This blend of white strains gives a significant boost and is a personal favorite. I don’t know what’s in the mix, but it provides a well-rounded experience full of energy without the jitters. It doesn’t make me anxious like many white strains do, so I reach for this when I’m dragging.

Laughing Lion Herbs Ryujin Blend

This red-dominant blend is made with only indoor-dried leaves. There has been some controversy in the kratom world surrounding the practice of outdoor drying, but the consensus is that it saves producers time and reduces the overall quality.

This process doesn’t necessarily affect the alkaloid content (test results can confirm the alkaloid concentrations for you anyways) but rather the taste, smell, and consistency. If you like red strains, give this one a try when you’re in the mood for something different.

Kratom Capsules

Kratom capsules are an increasingly popular product sold by kratom vendors. Capsules allow users to pop their kratom dose into their mouth and follow it with a swig of water. No need to brew a cup of tea or deal with gross toss & washing whenever you need a dose.

Bulk Kratom Capsules (Up to 1 kg)

Though these aren’t buy-one-get-one, they’re certainly still vegan, and they’re available in the same strains.

You can choose from either 1 lb or 1 kg of capsules ($100 and $200, respectively).

Each capsule is a size 00 vegan cap that holds about 500 mg of kratom. An 80 ct order of capsules gives you 40 g of kratom; after the 2-for-1 deal, you’re getting about 80 g for $30.

This is one of the only areas that Laughing Lion seems to charge a bit more than necessary.

Kratom Tinctures

Officially, a herbal tincture is an alcohol-based extract made of plant matter. However, in Kratom Land, a tincture’s definition is a bit looser, essentially including any liquid-based kratom formulation.

Laughing Lion Herbs offers five liquid kratom shots. Though they seem to buy into the same hype as other kratom extracts, this is mostly just for appearances.

If you look under the hood and scrutinize these shots’ ingredients, ratios, and total alkaloid content, Laughing Lion is doing its best to remain viable in a market full of misleading advertisements while retaining its integrity.

Color me impressed.

WOW! Kavalixir MAX Liquid Chill ($19)

Laughing Lion provides one of the only tinctures that offer a potent dose that remains within reason.

Almost 1,000 mg of kavalactones from 3,000 mg of extract means the kava extract would have to be about 33% kavalactone content. Looking around online, you’ll find that most kava extracts are within this range.

But if you look deeper, you’ll learn that most of these extracts are garbage. Reliable extracts are more expensive and rely on CO2 extractions, yielding 60-70% kavalactones.

Laughing Lion says they use a proprietary CO2 extraction yet yield only 30% kavalactones, which may justify their extract being cheaper than some of the high-end stuff.

As for the mitragynine content of 150 mg? It seems Laughing Lion is being honest.

Most decent kratom contains about 1.2-1.7% mitragynine by weight. Each shot would have the equivalent of about 10-13 g of kratom, and they’re advertised as equal to 12 g.

This product is pretty much the same as the previous shot except without the mitragynine.

These shots contain a full spectrum extract equal to 12 g of kratom leaf powder. They include “herbs to help balance men and women,” as well as PEA (phenethylamine) and 5HTP (serotonin) to accentuate the effects.

In fact, the whole ingredient list is worth taking a glance at. It’s pretty impressive.

• Naturally Extracted Complete Spectrum Kratom Extract Liquid Concentrate
• Phenethylamine is an important compound that the brain uses to produce many of our ‘happy chemicals.’ However, it’s useless as a supplement because it is broken down immediately into unusable metabolites.
• Maca root is a potent aphrodisiac that fights off some of the kratom-related libido loss that comes with regular daily usage.

• Mulungu is another powerful plant that can reduce anxiety and promote relaxation. It is said to drive away negative energies.

The shot contains about 16 mg of caffeine and 65 mg of mitragynine per serving, twice the amount in an entire 2-serving bottle.

The ingredient list in this shot is quite impressive as well.

• Stinging Nettle Root Extract. I prefer using the seeds since they’re a much more powerful stimulant than the roots.

5HTP is useless as a mood-boosting supplement because it’s metabolized into serotonin in the gut [1]. It’s already transformed into its antidepressant state before it’s reached the brain.

Magnolia bark is used for sedative and antidepressant purposes and would stack nicely with kratom.

N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine is the acetylated version of tyrosine, an amino acid necessary to produce dopamine. People often report feeling a short burst of dopaminergic stimulation when taking it.

N-Acetyl-Cysteine is an incredibly powerful compound. Shortly after being proven effective at fighting COVID-19, it was pulled from shelves in the USA and banned outright by the FDA. Before this, it enjoyed nearly half a century of recognition as one of the world’s most potent and versatile antioxidants.

Licorice root has several health benefits that aren’t mentioned anywhere on these pages. Its inclusion is a mystery. It can also cause cardiovascular issues in high doses.

Kratom Extracts

Kratom extracts are highly refined products made from Mitragyna speciosa. Technically all of the kratom included in the tinctures above comes from extracts that may or may not have any plant matter at all.

The discontinued extracts were called “Infinity Enhanced” and were made from each of their unique kratom blends. For example, the Infinity Enhanced Fuzzy Blanket Blend was made using the components of that blend.

Each extract had a potency of 1.8%-1.9% mitragynine. Nothing too extreme. In fact, this is the lowest percentage claimed on any extract that I’ve ever seen. If anything, in a market like this, that speaks in favor of Laughing Lion.

Their extracts were discontinued “due to increasing issues obtaining powdered extract and rising costs.” They urge you to consider using Air Kratom, which we will also encourage you to do in a moment.

They currently only have one extract:

100% Natural Kratom Extract 30% Mitragynine Complete Spectrum

Backed by a 100% satisfaction guarantee, a refreshingly plausible percentage of mitragynine, and small order sizes (no larger than 1 oz), everything suggests that the company is actually selling what they say they’re selling.

Available in 1, 5, 10, or 28 g packages, this extract contains 30% mitragynine by weight. Laughing Lion acknowledges that there’s about a 3% margin for error, so you might end up with a finished product between 27-33% mitragynine.

This may be one of the only extracts that provide you with 3 g of alkaloids in a small 100 mg dose.

The extract is made using all-natural solvents and is free from harsh chemical additives. A vendor after our hearts, they call out the rest of the market for the rampant use of harsh toxic extraction methods. Other vendors rely on solvents like chloroform and acetone that degrade the flavor and potency of the product and the reputation of the company making it.

Other Kratom Products

There are two unique products that Laughing Lion offers their customers that you won’t find anywhere else — Air Kratom aerosol sprays and a kratom tolerance reduction kit.

Tolerance Reduction Kit

If you think a tolerance reduction kit sounds too good to be true, think again. Most people shy away from the idea of tolerance reduction because they fear the science is too complicated, but it’s not. There are numerous ways to reduce and prevent tolerance from building.

And no, we’re not talking about switching strains to avoid the stale strain syndrome.

The two best ways to do this are using NMDA antagonists and potentiators (NMDA antagonists often serve both functions). NMDA antagonists help slow tolerance development by interfering with ion channels in the brain and preventing glutaminergic neuronal signaling.

Maybe the science does sound complicated if you look at it like that. Suffice it to say that NMDA antagonists allow you to slam shut a door between your brain cells and the message they would typically receive saying, “don’t pay attention to this drug!” (i.e., tolerance).

They aren’t always permanent, and that message might slip through the cracks over time. However, strong enough NMDA antagonists can effectively reduce your tolerance [2]. This works best when they also function as potentiators.

Potentiators increase the effectiveness of a drug or substance like mitragynine. Combining this with an NMDA antagonist means you can suddenly take less kratom and enjoy the same experience.

Over time you’ll be able to reduce your tolerance this way, and by continuing to cycle with NMDA antagonists, you can prevent — or at least significantly slow — its progress.

The tolerance reduction kit includes two essential NMDA antagonists: agmatine sulfate, Nigella sativa, or black cumin. The latter is also present in the liquid shots and Air Kratom. 

Ashwagandha, another ingredient included, may also have some activity as an NMDA antagonist.

Air Kratom

Now we can finally get into what would most likely be Laughing Lion’s flagship product — if everything else they sold wasn’t top-notch quality. That product is AIR KRATOM, the WORLD’S FIRST and ONLY AEROSOL KRATOM TINCTURE.

If you’re like me, that’s enough to sell you. On the off-chance you haven’t rushed to throw a dozen Air Kratoms into your shopping cart, here’s more info before you do.

You can choose from three options, one for each of the major kratom colors: red, green, and white. Regardless of color choice, each type comes with CBD. Each spray contains “20 mg of kratom complete spectrum extract and 500 mcg of Micelle CBD.”

This is equivalent to 2 g of kratom and 2.5 g of CBD. The latter could be a typo, but I’m not sure what number it’s supposed to be. That amount of CBD is ridiculous, but they say the number is based on bioavailability and effect.

Micelle CBD goes through the appropriately-named Micellization process. This involves using sound to sonically shatter a full-spectrum cannabinoid extract into only 22 nm wide nanoparticles.

The “cells have their polarities reversed” after this. Even in Mieclle’s questionable self-published study, they don’t specify which cell polarities reversed or why this influences their osmotic properties. Nonetheless, this is the reason for the incredible bioavailability of these products.

Once the polarity is reversed, the CBD particles become water-soluble instead of water “miscible,” which better describes its normal state. The conversion to true solubility makes Micell CBD ten times more potent than a tincture with a 100% absorption rate.

In addition to this powerful new form of CBD, Air Kratom includes extracts and amino acids such as:

• Agmatine sulfate: A compound often used to reduce tolerance to opioids and opiate-like substances.
• Black seed oil: An Ayurvedic supplement with immense health-boosting properties that also reduces tolerance to opiates.
• Echinacea: A popular immune-boosting herb.
• Chamomile and passion flower in the Relax blend helps facilitate relaxation and promote sleepiness.
• Ginseng and ashwagandha are present in the Energy blend to promote sustainable energy.
• L-Taurine is an amino acid with a subtle stimulant effect.

Is Laughing Lion Herbs Legit?

I will say that Laughing Lion Herbs holds up exceptionally well under the scathing glare of my skepticism.

Unlike the ridiculous and arbitrary ingredients included in products like K-Chill or Kryptic Kratom’s liquid shots, everything in a Laughing Lion extract is sensible. The components enhance the effects of your extract or help you avoid developing a tolerance to kratom.

Their kratom and kava extracts are potent. But they never once step outside the realm of plausibility by making extravagant claims.

Laughing Lions takes third-party testing seriously. They have several pages detailing the importance of cGMP manufacturing procedures and go to great lengths to inform people about the hows and whys of the industry standards. They even outline their cGMP process. Even if their test results aren’t available, they’re playing straight.

Laughing Lion’s Process for Ensuring cGMP-Standard Kratom

1. They import every kilo of kratom from trusted suppliers from Borneo, Indonesia. These shipments come by boat, which saves money on shipping and influences their low prices.
2. They filter the kratom through a series of stainless steel mesh plates to remove debris. UV Light Sterilization at this stage also protects against bacterial/viral contamination.
3. The kratom is then homogenized in ribbon blenders, ensuring every batch is uniform and identical and that testing accurately represents the whole batch.
4. The homogenized kratom is placed into sealed, sanitized barrels; multiple samples per batch are sent to third-party labs for testing for all FDA-required tests for supplements.
5. They adhere to California’s Prop 65 Requirements for Heavy Metals (much stricter than Federal Standards).
6. Once tests are confirmed, they begin production and package the products in industrial food-grade filling equipment in a cGMP Certified Clean Room.
7. The staff wears protective gear at all times, including hair nets, filtering face masks, and nitrile gloves, as well as HEPA Air Scrubbers continually cleaning the air in the room.

What You Can Expect To Pay

Laughing Lion is somewhat expensive, but this is due to the high quality.

Kratom powders are consistent across the board, with standard powders costing $17-$150 and blends costing $18-160. Some strains allow you to purchase $3 samples.

Their liquid extracts are reasonably priced, ranging from $12-20 — a much better value than the competition.

After calculating the 2-for-1 deal into the cost, capsules are $30 for 160. At 500 mg per cap, that’s $30 for 80 g — 75 g usually costs $17. This price is a little steep for capsules, but not entirely absurd. You can save money by buying more; 300 caps are $45, and 500 are $65, bringing the price down slightly.

Capsules purchased in bulk are priced differently. One pound is $100, and one kilo is $200. No two-for-one deals here.

Air Kratom is $39 a bottle.

The 30% kratom extract powder is $25 a g, $100 for 5 g, and $175 for 10 g. One ounce is $400. These prices seem incredibly steep, but we have reason to believe that you’re getting 30% mitragynine here. That means a gram equates to roughly 25-30 grams of kratom. This, plus the price of processing and extraction using non-toxic solvents, make this price fair.
