What Is Trainwreck Kratom?

Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) is an evergreen herb in the coffee family. It’s native to Thailand, Indonesia, and other parts of Southeast Asia and has been used to treat pain, anxiety, and insomnia in traditional medicine for centuries. It only recently gained popularity in Western society.

There are three main kratom strains, red, white, and green, named after the color of the veins running through their leaves. White-vein kratom comes from young kratom plants and is harvested earliest in the plant’s life cycle. Green-vein kratom comes from slightly older plants, and red-vein strains are harvested once the plants are fully mature.

The vein colors change with age due to changing alkaloid levels, determining kratom’s effects once it’s processed. Red strains have the highest alkaloid concentrations and are best for relaxation and pain relief. White-vein strains are more stimulating, and green strains fall somewhere in between, offering a blend of stimulation and sedation.

Trainwreck kratom is unique among kratom strains since it doesn’t fit in a single strain family. Instead, Trainwreck is a full-spectrum strain that contains a blend of red, white, and green strains. Unfortunately, there isn’t a standard blend that all companies use to make Trainwreck, meaning the Trainwreck from one company might not resemble the Trainwreck from another.

What Does Trainwreck Kratom Do?

Some people think Trainwreck is a stronger, more exaggerated green strain, with some using the tongue-in-cheek phrase “extra medium” to make their point. While that’s a funny way to put it, it is an accurate description.

Trainwreck typically isn’t overly sedating or stimulating, offering approximately equal amounts of both. However, it is usually stronger than most green strains, and experienced users say they often take less Trainwreck than other strains to compensate.

Trainwreck owes most of its pharmacological activity to two alkaloids, mitragynine and one of its metabolites, 7-hydroxymitragynine. Mitragynine is the most abundant alkaloid in kratom and produces most of kratom’s stimulating, energy-boosting effects. 7-hydroxymitragynine is much more opioid-like and gives kratom its analgesic and sedative properties.

Surprisingly, many people say that Trainwreck helps them sleep better at night, despite having some white strains in the mix. White kratom strains are higher in mitragynine and aren’t usually used for sleep. However, some people think that the green and red components of Trainwreck provide enough 7-hydroxymitragynine to balance it out.

Trainwreck Specs & Rating

  • Energy: ⭐⭐⭐ —Trainwreck provides a modest energy boost for most people, enough to help them get started in the morning without being overwhelming.
  • Mood: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ —One of Trainwreck’s best features, according to many users, is its ability to improve one’s mood and outlook. Trainwreck is one of the best strains for combatting lethargy and sluggishness and creating an overall sense of well-being.
  • Pain Relief: ⭐⭐⭐ —Trainwreck can alleviate minor to moderate pain but isn’t the best for more intense discomfort. Red strains are noticeably more potent and are better than Trainwreck for pain relief.
  • Anxiety Relief: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ —Trainwreck is one of the best strains for anxiety, according to user reports. Many people say low doses of Trainwreck help them feel more relaxed and social and that it can even help more intense panic attacks.
  • Sedation: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ —Trainwreck isn’t as sedating as a pure red strain, but it is sneakily relaxing. Trainwreck offers more relaxation than most green strains and is a better choice for sleep.

1. Anxiety Relief

Despite being a relatively strong strain, many people say that Trainwreck is an excellent choice for managing anxiety. Users routinely report taking low doses of Trainwreck eliminates their stress than most other strains and helps them avoid crippling anxiety in social situations.

2. Stimulation

Trainwreck has its fair share of mitragynine, making it pretty stimulating at low doses. Most people who have taken Trainwreck say it can’t match white strains in potency but provides a cleaner, smoother energy boost that many prefer.

3. Relaxation

People who find red strains overly sedating might have better experiences with Trainwreck. Since it’s only made of one-third red kratom, it offers significant relaxation without crossing the line. Many people prefer Trainwreck to common red strains like Red Maeng Da or Red Bali, saying it relaxes them without knocking them out.

Trainwreck Kratom Dose

All kratom strains are stimulating at low doses and become more sedating as the dose increases. This effect holds for Trainwreck but is somewhat less noticeable since the blend of strains naturally makes the impact more balanced. Here’s a look at the kratom dose guidelines.

Dose for Mild Stimulation

Since Trainwreck kratom can be pretty strong, most people start taking 1-3 grams for mild stimulation. Trainwreck noticeably improves a person’s mood and creates mild euphoria at this level.

Dose for Mild Relaxation

From 3-5 grams, Trainwreck becomes significantly more relaxing. Many people find moderate doses in this range to be the most effective, offering the optimal amount of relaxation without causing excessive tiredness.

Dose for Pain Relief

Above 5 grams, Trainwreck is quite strong, and the sedating effects become more prominent. Trainwreck is not the best strain for pain relief, but it can relieve minor aches. Taking more than 10 grams is not advisable. People who find that Trainwreck cannot meet their pain-relief needs usually switch to another strain rather than increase their dose of Trainwreck.

Side Effects of Trainwreck Kratom

All kratom strains come with some risk of side effects, and Trainwreck is not exempt. The most commonly reported side effects of using Trainwreck kratom are nausea, vomiting, dizziness, mental fog, memory impairment, constipation, diarrhea, and anxiety.

The most insidious side effect of using kratom is addiction. Kratom is not an opioid but works through similar biological mechanisms, making it possible to develop a dependence. Experts recommend controlling your dose and limiting your weekly intake to no more than five days. Extended kratom use also needs to be carefully monitored, and experienced users suggest taking longer breaks every one to two months.

Similar Kratom Strains

Trainwreck kratom is not always readily available since it is not as popular as single-strain kratom. If you’re interested in Trainwreck kratom’s balanced effects profile, but don’t want to wait for it to be in stock, here are some strains that scratch a similar itch.

1. Green Bali

Green Bali is one of the most popular kratom strains of any color and is often the number one strain recommended to beginners. It’s balanced, providing a bit of pain relief, some energy, and considerable relaxation, making it quite similar to Trainwreck kratom.

However, most Green Bali is significantly weaker than Trainwreck, which can be a positive or a negative depending on what you’re looking for.

2. Green Borneo

Green Borneo is another balanced strain with slightly more emphasis on managing anxiety than Green Bali. Many people turn to Green Borneo to help calm their minds, boost their spirits, and help them relax.

Green Borneo also offers a similar amount of pain relief as Trainwreck but requires higher doses to reach the same levels.

3. White Borneo

White Borneo is less well-balanced than the previous two strains but is a good choice for people most interested in improving their mood and cognitive performance with kratom. It’s a popular strain for productivity that offers more energy than relaxation but isn’t considered overly stimulating.

Final Thoughts: Trainwreck Kratom

Trainwreck kratom is an unusual blend of red, white, and green kratom that creates a powerful, balanced effects profile, unlike any other strain. It can be hard to predict what you’ll get when you order Trainwreck kratom since companies don’t always list the individual strains they use to make it. Still, it’s a good option for people looking to try something different.

Most people find Trainwreck to be on the strong side and opt for lower doses than they usually take. Many people use low doses of Trainwreck to manage their anxiety, give themselves a slight energy boost, and take higher doses to relax. Trainwreck isn’t great for pain relief but may take the edge off minor pain in the 5-10 gram range.

Trainwreck can be hard to find, so many people choose alternative strains when looking for equal parts stimulation and sedation. Green Bali, Green Borneo, and White Borneo are all relatively balanced strains, each emphasizing one of kratom’s effects more than the others without overdoing it. Users who can’t find Trainwreck in stock can’t go wrong with any of them as a substitute.
