How Did Florida Fresh Botanicals Start?
One of the founders was growing concerned about the quality of Kratom he got from local vendors. After asking around, he found the products were processed overseas with limiting harvesting and production standards.
He had a terrible experience with a kratom product, so he decided to grow kratom for his own personal use. After several years, he earned a Ph.D. in horticulture from the University of Florida. This person also happened to be the director of the largest vertical farm in the State. From what started as a hobby, his cultivation quickly evolved into a full-blown, 60-acre kratom farm located in Florida.

This is probably one of the questions you’re asking when you see “locally-grown kratom” on their website. Let’s break down kratom’s natural habitat and then compare it with US (Florida, in this case) conditions.
Kratom grows in Southeast Asian regions, including, but not limited to, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. Let’s examine their natural environment first.

- Sunlight: at least 12 hours, medium to full exposure
- Humidity: high, ranging from 72%-90%
- Climate: tropical monsoon, with consistent wet and dry seasons
- Soil: rich, nutrient-dense, good moisture retention with adequate drainage, acidic (4.5pH)
Now, for Florida, here’s what they got in terms of climate:
- Temperature: can be 68⚪F-78⚪F, varies between seasons
- Sunlight: at least 12 hours, medium to full exposure
- Humidity: depending on location, 79%-88%; some areas can go up to 90%.
- Soil: can be sandy or clay, slightly acidic (6.4pH)
Possibilities of Growing Kratom in Florida
Compared to other states in the US, Florida is most conducive for growing kratom. However, kratom trees can take 1-2 years to mature before harvesting fully. So, how exactly did Florida Fresh Botanicals manage to grow kratom on this scale?
Florida Fresh Botanicals shared pictures of their farm in southern central Florida back in 2021. Right now, depending on when they planted the trees, these trees would be close to 5 years old minimum—a decent age for harvesting.
But how about the soil? The founders ensure that the soil is nutrient-rich through sustainable practices. Beneficial microbes keep the soil “alive”, and locally sourced eco-friendly fertilizers enrich it, they claim.
How Potent is Florida Fresh Botanicals Locally-Grown Kratom?
Having a sample of a lab test on a vendor’s website is good, right? Especially when the test is less than 6 months old. Florida Fresh Botanicals shared a lab test on their website which was done on March 7, 2023. As this post was written in February 2025, it means they really need to update the lab reports on their website.
Based on the report, the mitragynine level is at 1.65%, which is within the acceptable range, and actually quite potent. This was for their sample of a green kratom powder, but it doesn’t mention any strain.
How About the Price, then?
Okay, now for the main question. What are the prices for kratom at Florida Fresh Botanicals?
Their kratom powder is $70.00-$120.00 for 500g-1kg, which is more expensive compared to Oasis Kratom ($15.00-$79.00), Sleepy Head ($17.00-$18.00), and Super Speciosa ($19.99-$139.99)
For the dry leaf, you’re looking at $16.00-$100.00 (1oz-2lbs). For Kraken Kratom, the crushed leaf will be $8.99-$143.99 (1oz-1lb). The prices seem to swing from expensive to economical if you look at Florida Fresh Botanicals. You will save more on ordering dry leaves in large quantities.
However, when you factor in that this product was grown in the US rather than overseas, their pricing is actually very reasonable and even quite affordable. For those looking for USA grown kratom, these are the guys and we give props to them.
What Else Should You Look at?
Florida Fresh Botanicals has Kraterall, a tincture created with kratom and a mix of Chinese herbs. Chuck Meyer, one of the founders, worked with Dr. Brian Caswell, an acupuncture physician.
They created Kraterall to capture the unique alkaloids found in fresh-leaf kratom along with different Chinese herbal medicines. Some of these include:

You get a tincture that helps boost your mood, enhance your focus, and potentially energize you.
So far, though, no one has come forward to say how Kraterall was able to support their wellness goals.

Is Florida Fresh Botanicals AKA-GMP Certified?
As much as we want to celebrate a store that sells locally-grown kratom, this one is on pause for a moment. Florida Fresh Botanicals isn’t AKA-GMP (American Kratom Association – Good Manufacturing Practice) certified for now. Will they be in the future? We don’t know. With the investment they made ordering and growing a local kratom farm, it’s fair to assume they care about their product and manufacturing quality though.
AKA-GMP certification ensures that the company you’re dealing with follows a standard for quality production standards. As of now, kratom is not regulated and accepted by the FDA, so having this certification is important.
AKA-GMP certification helps protect your rights as a consumer, ensuring you are getting quality kratom. Why? Because in order to be certified, a vendor needs to prove that they meet specific quality control requirements and procedures.
TL:DR:
Florida Fresh Botanicals has created a kratom farm in South Central Florida. One of the founders had a bad experience with a vendor, which drove him to grow his own backyard supply of kratom. By working with known kratom suppliers and partnering with the director of the largest vertical farm in Florida, Florida Fresh Kratom was born.
It’s a breath of fresh air to get locally grown kratom. It gives you a good idea of how fresh the product is. Because of this, delivery is decent, but slower than most of the top vendors and no free shipping.
Pricing isn’t as competitive as with other vendors. But for locally-grown kratom, that has a higher cost to produce than overseas, the pricing is really not that bad, and they are certainly not gouging their customers. Unfortunately, a lot of soil preparation and nourishment has to be done to simulate kratom’s natural Southeast Asian habitat.
Another downside is there’s no description of what variety of kratom you’ll be getting. The lab test shown doesn’t help either, as it only shows one kratom vein (green), and it was done on March 7, 2023. Purchases are final, and there are no options for canceling orders (at least none mentioned on their website).
Should you pay a bit more and support a local US grower? For $120 a kilogram, the pricing isn’t bad. Also, with mitragynine content over 1.5%, these guys may certainly be worth a shot if they tick the boxes for you.
