Kosta Kratom Review: Not Your Average Smokeshop Kratom

Today, we’re looking at one of the largest kratom distributors in North America: Kosta Kratom. Reddit users seem almost entirely unaware of them, even when buying from their major customers. They’re not very active on social media. Trying to find Kosta Kratom is like trying to look at the back of your head in the mirror.

And yet, despite all this, they aren’t relegated to the realm of “crappy gas station bulk suppliers.” Read on to find out how and why this is possible.

Kosta Kratom

3.25 / 5
Ranked 73 out of 190 vendors

The few things keeping Kosta Kratom short of a five-star rating are their lack of accessibility, the complete absence of any online presence & reviews, and the variability in quality from vendor to vendor.

That makes it challenging to navigate questions regarding their authenticity and quality.

If you’re hoping to find a new supplier, you’re out of luck. They’re a wholesale vendor, through and through. We won’t dock points for that, but it’s worth mentioning. Plenty of other vendors stock their goods, both online and offline. There are also more than a few vendors to buy better quality kratom directly.

On the other hand, Kosta might be a great place to check out if you own a store. Lab tests and quality control will save you tons of time. And the owner seems eager to strike up a conversation with any new clients. So don’t hesitate to give them a ring.

About the Company

Kosta Kratom takes pride in participating in the process of kratom production. For years, the company’s owners have traveled to Indonesia to check in with the farms producing their kratom — both to ensure the well-being of the workers and ensure the quality is up to par.

They are committed to choosing only farms that intend to follow sustainable agricultural practices. Even after this, they have all their products tested for all the goodies and all the not-so-goodies. They analyze alkaloid content to ensure customer satisfaction and test to ensure no chemicals or heavy metals are absorbed from the soil or fertilizer at the farm.

Rather than selling single or small numbers of bags for personal use, they sell kratom in cartons, flats, and boxes. All their products are pre-packaged (i.e., you can’t order an ounce of Maeng Da, but you can order 12 cases of 4-ounce packs of Maeng Da).

This is great for vendors who want to save time. Kosta will be an absolute pleasure if you’re trying to run a one-man kratom business.

If you’re not, Kosta is a good choice if you have to buy from a physical store. Kosta’s grown large enough to supply other online vendors like Kratom Library.

Kosta Kratom Product Reviews

Kosta Kratom’s supply is somewhat limited, but this is generally the case with bulk suppliers. Since their products are pre-made to be shipped out in massive quantities, maintaining a stock with dozens of items is impractical.

Kosta does just fine with their four kratom strains and their kratom shots. Part of the reason for this is that a small inventory means a smaller quality control check. Kosta’s quality might not be what it is today if they had to take care of metric tons of the green stuff.

As for prices, you have to contact Kosta Kratom and place a wholesale order. Vendors pay Kosta, then mark up the product, so they make money as well.

If you’re not a vendor, keep in mind that the prices of these products vary quite a bit depending on where you buy them.

Kratom Leaf Powder

Kratom powder is the most widely available form of the plant. Much like cannabis flower is required for producing all other cannabis-related products, so too is kratom powder (or at least, kratom leaf) used to create other kratom products, like extracts and tinctures.

Kosta Kratom sells a limited variety, but they are consistent. These are all neatly organized on the website and can be purchased in flats containing 12 of either 1 oz, 2 oz, or 4 oz bags.

The website says their kratom is processed in a GMP-certified facility and regularly tested for purity and potency.

Kosta Kratom Bali Red Vein

Red Bali is perhaps the most iconic kratom strain. It is often recommended for pain patients due to its strong opioid-like properties and the sedation it offers. Green kratom can also be sedating, but not nearly as much as the red.

Red Bali is a particularly nice strain to use in the evening when you need to wind down or take the edge off a strenuous day.

Kosta Kratom Borneo White Vein

Strong and stimulating enough to leave you awake into the wee hours, white vein kratom is not for the faint of heart. White Borneo is potent and can keep you going for hours after your last dose.

White vein kratom is better for times you need to stay focused, alert, productive, or otherwise remain active during the day. Avoid taking it late at night unless you’re planning on staying awake.

Kosta Kratom Green Maeng Da

Green Maeng Da is one of kratom’s most popular and prolific strains. It strikes a perfect balance between the red and the white, offering some relaxation towards the end of the experience. The initial come-up and peak experience are still quite stimulating but not electrifying like a white.

Green Maeng Da is the best all-around kratom strain for everyday users with no specific medicinal needs. This strain, in particular, is excellent if you’re overcoming an addiction, as it won’t interfere with daily tasks (like a strong red) or sleeping (like a white).

Kratom Capsules

Kratom capsules are quickly moving to replace kratom powder as the most popular form of kratom. Capsules are much more attractive from the standpoint of busy people, pain patients, socialites, or anyone else who doesn’t want to deal with the hassle of consuming powder.

Capsules are easily transported, consumed, and measured. They make it easier to regulate your usage and eliminate the discomfort that the taste of kratom would otherwise cause.

All of the strains at Kosta Kratom can also be ordered in capsules. These generally cost more than the powder since you pay for the labor involved. The capsules themselves are also a price factor.

Some vendors charge up to twice as much for capsules. There’s no way of being sure whether or not Kosta Kratom does this unless you call to get the original prices. We just have to hope that vendors are being fair.

Kratom Tinctures

Kratom tinctures are somewhat rare, although kratom shots are a similar concept: liquid-based kratom extracts containing a high potency of kratom alkaloids. Kosta Kratom makes three flavors: Orange Cream, Chocolate Mint, and Maeng Da.

These are sold in cases of 12 when purchased from Kosta Kratom. They’re lab tested and proven to contain no contaminants or adulterants. The mitragynine content is a whopping 20%, providing 62.5 mg per serving.

What You Can Expect To Pay

As mentioned, Kosta Kratom is a wholesale vendor, so you don’t pay them directly unless you place a bulk order. However, Kratom Spot sets an example for pricing Kosta Kratom products.

Kratom powders are similar in price, with White Borneo and Red Bali costing $7.99 for a 1-ounce bag and up to $89.99 for a kilo. Maeng Da is slightly more expensive at $9.99 to $99.99.

Capsules are similar in price, although the weight is just over half of the equivalent cost for powder. (For example, $8.99 gets you 25 Red Vein Bali capsules. This is weighted at 18 grams, whereas $7.99 gets you an ounce of powder).

Bali, Maeng Da, and Borneo prices reach up to $74.99 for 250 capsules or 175 grams.

Kratom shots are $7.99 each, or 6 for $34.99.

Accepted Payment Options

As a wholesale vendor, Kosta Kratom does not even have a checkout on its website. They encourage potential customers to contact them via phone so that you can work out a wholesale price and payment solution.

Is Kosta Kratom Legit?

Kosta Kratom looks about as legit as it gets, and its word-of-mouth reputation as a dependable company continues to grow.

They’re certified as a GMP-qualified vendor by the American Kratom Association and seemingly transparent in their business dealings. Their lab tests are available at the click of a button; no complicated correspondence is required before they relinquish the results.

They even have a video on their website showing how the workers handle their health & safety protocol on the job. Hair and beard nets are clearly shown, and the process of capsule-packing is caricatured.

What Other Customers Say About This Brand

You’re out of luck if you’re looking for customer reviews regarding Kosta Kratom. The company has little online presence despite its etiquette and high-quality standards.

To find reviews, look into some of the brands they sell to. Even then, there’s nothing to go on. None of the verified vendors, like Kratom Library, have any online presence; the Library even made promotional posts on Reddit that were ignored.

This problem is common with wholesale companies. Since most of their products are purchased in bulk by vendors who might not even use kratom, they will see little reason to leave reviews like a customer does when they’re trying their first dose from a new vendor.

The people taking Kosta Kratom might not even associate the product with the company. Instead, they’ll probably associate it with the head shop where they purchased it and then leave a review complimenting or complaining about the kratom.

To find reports about the product’s legitimacy, check with vendors that stock Kosta Kratom. Unfortunately, in the case of this vendor, there may be a case of plagiarism ongoing: Kratom Spot is selling products that look nearly identical to Kosta Kratom’s, with similar labeling, fonts, product styles, etc.

Kratom leaf and flower.

According to some Reddit users, Kratom Spot has been busted selling low-quality products filled with impurities.

Kratom Spot sells what looks like a specially-rebranded version of Kosta’s products and may be more than just a customer. Sometimes bulk kratom exporters operate their vendor storefront under a different name. There’s no proof either way. But there is proof of a horrible response generated on Reddit to the company’s product and treatment.

The thread’s author was writing to complain about Kratom Spot failing to close their packages, and tape shut their order, resulting in powder (low-quality powder, to boot) being dumped all over the order by the time it arrived. The onslaught of customer reports ranged from “mildly displeased” to “disgusted and determined never to contact again.”

  • “Bad quality made my body feel hot and gave me headache and I didn’t even take alot .”
  • “Tried the ultra maeng da… all I got was a headache. Tried it again… another headache.”
  • “I’ve been using their loose leaf every day for over a year and I think it works great, but lately I’ve been noticing shreds of plastic and human hairs. “
  • “They sent me expired product that looks like dirt.”

Given the relative freshness of this thread and the favorable reviews the company has earned in the past, it seems this is a relatively recent phenomenon. Perhaps some change of management or values at the company resulted in a drop in quality.

However, we can’t be sure, one way or another, whether Kratom Spot is associated with Kosta Kratom. None of the other vendors who sell Kosta’s stuff, like the Kratom Library, have had such a negative lash back.

Shipping & Returns

Kosta offers a 100% guarantee, but I don’t think that extends to the actual kratom-using customers buying their goods from other vendors.

Kratom Spot offers a 100% money-back guarantee, but they don’t seem to be honoring it anymore. Unfortunately, this makes it sound like individual buyers are at the mercy of whatever vendor they buy their Kosta Kratom from.

Basically, if you’re buying Kosta Kratom, you’re out of luck if you want a refund. As a vendor, you’ll probably not get enough negative feedback on products to return them within the specified 30-day time frame. As an individual customer, a head shop likely won’t refund you for a used kratom shot.

Final Thoughts: Quality Smokeshop Kratom

I don’t have a kratom shop, and I usually buy kratom from vendors that import it directly from Indonesia. If I need an extract, I’ll make my own. But that said, if I ever need to open a kratom shop and want to use pre-made products and packaging, I’d certainly consider using Kosta Kratom.

Most of the places selling Kosta’s products are favorably reviewed. Though there is little feedback about the brand online, they are certified by the American Kratom Association.

Best of all, they aren’t going out on a limb, throwing sales-y language at you, desperately trying to ensnare potential customers like many other vendors.

That alone is enough to earn my support!
