Eclipse Kratom used to be a somewhat popular head shop brand, though its products were also available online at the company’s website. Unfortunately, the company went out of business in 2018, and vendors pulled its products from shelves across the country. At the same time, its website went down, and it has not sold kratom products since.

In this vendor guide, we’ll explain what might have happened to Eclipse Kratom and suggest alternatives, such as the following:

About the Company

Eclipse Kratom was based in Utah and operated under the parent company Tamarack Inc. Its kratom products included kratom powders, capsules, and liquid kratom extracts, all of which were relatively popular, especially in the head shop space.

Eclipse Kratom pulled its products from shelves and discontinued its online store in 2018, never to be seen again. The company left an impression on kratom users, as many people still search online for the company’s products and look for them — specifically the liquid extracts — in smoke shops.

At this point, there is no sign that the company will resurface.

Kratom Therapy Product Reviews

Eclipse Kratom was best known for its highly concentrated kratom extracts, but it also sold a decent selection of strains in powder and capsules through smoke shops and gas stations.

There is no specific product listing available anymore, nor is there any information on the strain selection that this company once carried.

What Happened to Eclipse Kratom?

In 2018, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) alerted Tamarack that its Eclipse Kratom products were contaminated with Salmonella. Salmonella is, unfortunately, common contamination in kratom products that aren’t processed and packaged correctly. The bacteria can cause severe illness and death if symptoms if not treated immediately.

After the notification from the FDA, Tamarack immediately recalled all of its Eclipse Kratom products, pulling them from shelves and shutting down the online kratom shop.

From there, it’s not entirely clear why the company never rereleased its products. Maybe it couldn’t absorb the losses of ditching so many products. It’s also possible that the company shut down production entirely to avoid lawsuits from customers or ongoing issues with its production line.

In any case, Eclipse Kratom has not released kratom products since the recall in 2018, and at this point, it’s clear that the products aren’t coming back.

Best Alternative Kratom Vendors

It’s always a shame when kratom vendors go out of business, but in the case of Eclipse Kratom, it seems it was for the best. Avoid companies that don’t test their products and allow improper processing and packaging, putting customers at risk. Below, we’ll offer three alternatives to Eclipse, all of which test their products to guarantee you’ll never encounter contamination.

Star Kratom

Aka GMP Certified yes
Pricing $35 — $95
Verified Vendor

Star Kratom

4.9 / 5
Ranked 2 out of 190 vendors

Star Kratom put itself on the map in the industry by offering lightning-fast shipping times. Most customers receive their product in just a day or two, so Star provides an easy way to restock when your stash is getting low. Star Kratom also brings quality and consistency to the table, which you can verify by checking the company’s third-party lab results. These are posted online for all products.

Star Kratom carries powders and capsules, although the strain selection could be more impressive. Still, a limited selection is a slight downside when prices are low, quality is high, and shipping speeds are undefeated.

Pros & Cons

  • Fast shipping speeds
  • Third-party lab testing is done on all products
  • 30-day satisfaction guarantee
  • Affordable
  • Limited selection of strains

Kona Kratom

Aka GMP Certified yes
Pricing $45.00 — $115.00
Verified Vendor

Kona Kratom

4.95 / 5
Ranked 1 out of 190 vendors

Kona Kratom is a great place to turn if you’re looking for a good mix of quality and affordability. Kona offers the safety, consistency, and potency that Eclipse often failed to bring. This brand isn’t sold in gas stations or head shops, but that means it isn’t overpriced.

Kona offers a satisfaction guarantee that lasts for 30 days, and it backs its products with third-party lab testing. You can always confirm that the powder or capsules you’re purchasing aren’t contaminated with Salmonella, other bacteria, heavy metals, or adulterants. Kona has an excellent reputation in the kratom industry, so you can rest assured that its products are safe.

Pros & Cons

  • Third-party lab test results available for all products
  • Reasonably affordable for the quality
  • 30-day satisfaction guarantee
  • Reliable name in the industry
  • Shipping speeds are slower than some competitors

VIP Kratom

Aka GMP Certified yes
Pricing $40.00 — $125.00
Verified Vendor

VIP Kratom

4.85 / 5
Ranked 4 out of 190 vendors

VIP Kratom is the kind of company that kratom users rely on implicitly. VIP puts all its products through rigorous third-party testing to confirm that your product isn’t contaminated with bacteria, heavy metals, or other non-kratom compounds. The lab results are available online, so you can verify the safety and potency before buying.

VIP is a bit on the expensive side, but most customers agree that the price is well worth the quality and peace of mind you get when you buy from the company. VIP carries a nice selection of strains in powder and capsule form, so most kratom fans can find something they like.

Pros & Cons

  • High-quality, potent kratom
  • Third-party lab tests for all products
  • 30-day satisfaction guarantee
  • AKA-certified company
  • A little on the expensive side

Final Thoughts: What We Can Learn From Eclipse Kratom’s Demise

We never like to see kratom companies go out of business, but we can always learn something when they do. Eclipse met its demise because it failed to test its products for contaminants, a crucial practice in the kratom industry.

While we could lament the loss of a kratom company, it’s better to learn a valuable lesson from Eclipse: only purchase and consume kratom that has been vigorously tested for contaminants. You might pay a little more for kratom from companies like Star Kratom, Kona Kratom, and VIP Kratom, but the quality and safety of their products are worth the investment.
