HB&M Kratom shut its doors for good, but we’ll look at what it did while it was running. HB&M launched its website in 2016 and closed its doors recently, officially dropping out of the competition.
With so many kratom vendors in the marketplace, racing toe-to-toe to get ahead, choosing the right one is difficult.
We strongly recommend giving a few of our favorites a chance.
If it was still in business, we would have rated it a 2.5. Unfortunately, there was no information about the company; it had a limited selection, no proof of third-party testing, and offered us little to go on besides great reviews on Reddit. Plus, it wasn’t certified by the American Kratom Association.
Even though their customer service deserved recognition, we needed more to go on to balance the lack of tests performed by third-party laboratories to certify kratom purity.
In this section, we’ve listed our top-three favorite online kratom vendors in the current market. These are AKA-approved, trustworthy, and mainly affordable, offering a broad selection of unique strains.
1. Kona Kratom
After spending ages at the top of our lists, we can say that Kona Kratom is one of our favorite retailers, with affordable, third-party lab-tested top-notch strains.
In addition, they’ll keep your wallet safe with their specialty sample packs, perfect for beginners who’ve recently started their kratom adventure. Once you try Kona, you’re never going back. Shipping is free on orders over $29.99, and they have a money-back guarantee on all orders.
Kona Kratom’s top picks:
- Green Malay
- Red Maeng Da
- Red Dragon
2. Star Kratom
Staying true to its name as a rising star in the market, Star Kratom offers unbeatably fast shipping and turnaround times no other brand can match.
Even though many consider this store limits its strain selection to mainstream varieties, its regular clients keep coming back for “the freshest products in the market.” This vendor might be perfect if you need more cash but want to maintain your kratom’s quality.
Star Kratom’s top picks:
- Red Bali
- Green Maeng Da
- Green Malay
3. VIP Kratom
Premium kratom is VIP Kratom‘s specialty. This retailer makes top-shelf kratom its number one priority, so it’ll send back every batch that doesn’t meet its rigorous quality standards.
Although this brand’s prices might be higher, you’ll probably deem the extra fees worth it once you’ve considered their strains’ unbeatable potency and certified purity.
VIP Kratom’s top picks:
- Red Sumatra
- White Maeng Da
- Green Hulu
As we mentioned earlier, HB&M opened the doors to its California home base in 2016, amassing a reasonable amount of loyal customers who developed a very close relationship with the owner, Leo.
Even without unlimited, attractive stock and a minimalist, barely-interactive website, the brand fought through fierce competition during its years in business.
In 2022, Leo decided it was time to close the company’s doors, thanking his community for their unwavering support over time.

Small selection of strains
Uninformative and overall lacking website
HB&M focused on retailing kratom powder, the most widespread way to take the herb, made from dried, pulverized leaves of Mitragyna speciosa. However, many complaints mentioned the limited selection of strains they offer on their shelves.
|Product Name||Our Rating||Price Range|
|White Vein Powder||3.5/5||$7.50 – 145|
|Red Vein Powder||4/5||$7.50 – 145|
|Green Vein Powder||4/5||$7.50 – 145|
White Vein Powder
If you want to enhance your productivity and energy levels, we recommend giving white vein kratom powder’s swift, nootropic effects a chance. Prices range from $7.50 to $145.
HB&M Kratom’s White Thai
Enhancing your creative drive is a piece of cake with White Thai kratom, and we recommend it as an alternative social lubricant.
HB&M Kratom’s White Maeng Da
White Maeng Da is a top-notch pain relief variety known for causing stimulating effects.
Red Vein Powder
You can forget anxiety, stress, and muscle pain once you give red vein kratom powder a chance. These sedative, nootropic strains can even beat insomnia. This powdered variety ranges from $7.50 to $145.
HB&M Kratom’s Red Maeng Da
Red Maeng Da is rare in that it can boost your energy and well-being while reducing muscle aches and other pains.
HB&M Kratom’s Red Horn Borneo
Red Borneo can get you on your feet without any mentionable side effects.
HB&M Kratom’s Red Bali
Although Red Bali might cause slight sedation as its effects fade away, this strain is a perfect painkiller.
Green Vein Powder
Green-veined kratom powder acts as the point where stimulation and sedation meet, becoming the most balanced of all varieties. These strains will last longer in your body without endangering your wallet. Prices range from $7.50 to $145.
HB&M Kratom’s Green Bali
Green Bali is a stimulant and a nootropic that can act as a potent painkiller.
HB&M Kratom’s Green Maeng Da
If you’re looking for long-lasting, mood and energy-boosting effects with pain-killing properties, we recommend Green Maeng Da.
HB&M Kratom’s Green Elephant
With one of the most potent, stimulating, and euphoric effects on the market, Green Elephant is ahead of the race regarding green-veined strains.
Searching Reddit pulls up plenty of fans of the company. However, finding a reliable vendor where you can get your favorite strains without worrying about your health can be a complicated task. Despite claiming only to sell Mitragyna speciosa in its purest form, many vendors cut costs by mixing their strains with other substances.
So, the lack of transparent third-party laboratory testing on the HB&M website is questionable and worrying. It’s essential to know that kratom is safe and pure, and the truth is, it’s wiser to purchase from a more reputable vendor.
HB&M’s signature highlight is price consistency. What the retailer charges for an ounce of kratom is in line with what other vendors in the market offer, and its quality is relatively average.
However, as the amount of kratom in your order increases, the prices become more expensive and less affordable than other vendors.
This might have been annoying for many users, but it was a lifesaver for those who wanted smaller orders without a higher price.
Their price range goes as follows:
- 1 ounce – $7.50
- 2 ounces – $14
- 4 ounces – $28
- 8 ounces – $55
- ½ kilo – $87
- 1 kilo – $145
Accepted Payment Options
HB&M used to accept payments via credit and debit cards and transfers using the Zelle platform. The seller also received money via Bitcoin.
In any case, you will need a digital wallet to store it in, such as Coinbase.
This vendor used to offer monthly discounts to give its customers up to twenty percent off.
These discounts brought the price per kilo from $145 to $116, which was much more reasonable compared to other brands in the market.
I Love Kratom posted highly enthusiastic reviews on HB&M, with one person saying, “the customer service blew them away,” and another person commenting the delivery was “very quick and high quality.” Some forum members even recalled receiving gifts and samples with their orders.
On a Reddit thread, however, there’s a mixture of equal praise and complaints. While some called their strains “overpriced” and pointed out their lack of variety, others highlighted their varieties’ potency and the brand’s customer service.
HB&M shipped their orders out with USPS. They had an exclusive shipping option called “At Your Own Risk,” reserved only for a handful of clients who accepted the terms. By choosing it, getting a refund for late packages becomes impossible.
The store only offered a replacement if your package was lost by USPS, and they encouraged you to fill out a theft/lost claim.
Unfortunately, the possibility of giving HB&M a chance is no longer on the table, as Leo — the owner — decided to close the company’s doors. Regardless, this doesn’t mean we shouldn’t highlight why people loved it.
Even though many customers wanted more for quality, they still left behind a loyal following, with people commenting on the remarkable attention and warm customer service given by the HB&M staff.
