What is Yellow Elephant Kratom?
With so many different kratom strains available, it can be very difficult to decide which one to use. Yellow Elephant kratom is a powerful strain with effects that sit somewhere between red and green strains.
This means you can expect Yellow Elephant kratom to provide effects that fall more on the relaxation or sedation side of the spectrum.
Yellow Elephant won’t be quite as sedating as a full-blown red vein strain — which is the most sedative.
It’s also not quite as energizing as white kratom strains.
This means yellow kratom strains are a good choice for people who need pain relief or anxiety relief without the strong sedation associated with red kratom.
What is Yellow Vein Kratom?
In the Kratom world, there’s some confusion surrounding the names and effects of different strains. This confusion is understandable: kratom is often imported from Asian countries where language barriers and different agricultural practices can make it hard for a Westerner to figure out what they’re actually buying.
Yellow vein kratom is produced through the integration of two different processes.
The first method involves mixing two different strains — usually red and white vein powders. This produces the sedation (red) and stimulation (white) that yellow strains are known for.
Generally, this only happens when North American vendors decide to make their own yellow blends with kratom that they’ve already purchased. However, Yellow Elephant purchased directly from farmers in Southeast Asia might be a bit different.
The second method, according to the kratom farmers that we’ve spoken to, involves drying and fermenting the leaves of red vein plants after they’ve been harvested.
Strains that are more sedating and relaxing, such as yellow strains, have been fermented for longer. Red strains are generally fermented for three days, whereas yellow strains are fermented for just one or two.
Fermentation and sun-drying accelerate the conversion of several chemicals in the kratom plant. One of the biggest conversions is that of mitragynine — the most abundant alkaloid in kratom — into the more relaxing and highly potent alkaloid 7-OH-mitragynine.
This alkaloid is extremely potent in its purest form. By weight, it’s more than ten times stronger than morphine.
However, 7-OH-mitragynine is present in extremely small quantities in the kratom leaf. The microscopic amount present in the plant is not enough to be dangerous.
Yellow Elephant Kratom Effects
With a name like Elephant, you might expect Yellow Elephant Kratom to improve your memory or make you more energetic. While Yellow Elephant Kratom is certainly strong, it’s more on the relaxing side of the spectrum.
Here’s a quick summary of the effects of Yellow Elephant Kratom:
- Energy: ⭐️⭐️ — Low doses can be a little energizing.
- Mood: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Yellow Elephant is good, but not great, for boosting mood.
- Pain relief: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Yellow Elephant is good for pain relief.
- Anxiety relief: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — The effect on anxiety can vary depending on your dose.
- Sedation: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Yellow Elephant will make you comfortable and sleepy.
1. Pain Relief
Yellow Elephant is a very useful strain for pain relief. Whether the Yellow Elephant is labeled by farmers (due to the fermentation process) or vendors (due to mixing red and white strains), the effect is the same: strong relief with slight stimulation.
Yellow Elephant might not be as strong of a pain killer as Red Elephant, but the tradeoff is fair. Red Elephant and other red strains are generally too sedating to use during the day. Yellow Elephant is a much better strain to take if you have things to do.
2. Sedation & Sleep Support
Just because Yellow Elephant is less sedating than some red strains, that doesn’t mean that it’s not sedating at all. In fact, in the big picture, Yellow Elephant is one of the best strains for sleep support.
Again, though, Yellow Elephant isn’t so strong of a sedative that it’ll knock you off your feet — at least, not at lower doses. High doses can be profoundly sedating and will certainly send you to bed wrapped in a blanket of warmth.
Yellow Elephant can thus be extremely useful for helping people who struggle with insomnia.
3. Anxiety Relief
Yellow strains excel at fighting anxiety. If you’re looking for a strain that can help you curb your social anxiety or stop a panic attack in its tracks, Yellow Elephant might be the strain for you.
One of Yellow Elephant’s biggest attractions is the fact that it can be very relieving without causing all-encompassing sedation. For example, it’s powerful enough to knock your anxiety out of the park while leaving you with enough energy to socialize and have fun.
On the other hand, high doses can still be sedating enough to smother a panic attack before it gets the best of you.
4. Mood Support & Euphoria
Another benefit of Yellow Elephant Kratom is its ability to help improve mood and induce a feeling of euphoria. Kratom can boost your mood in a couple of different ways.
Yellow Elephant Kratom has a bit of an impact on the brain’s dopamine system. Dopamine is chemical that your brain uses to create feelings of motivation, pleasure, and reward.
White and green kratom strains, which are motivating in of themselves, have a stronger effect on dopamine. However, Yellow Elephant (especially those strains which are hand-blended by vendors using White and Red Elephant) still hits the dopamine system hard enough to boost your mood.
Sedating strains like Yellow Elephant really shine in the mood-boosting department because of their ability to numb negative feelings. We’ve already mentioned how Yellow Elephant can squash your anxiety, but it can also be useful as an antidepressant.
However, common sense dictates that you shouldn’t use kratom as a crutch longer than you need to. Remember, if you break your leg, you don’t want to use the crutches for the rest of your life. You want to use them until your leg heals and you’re able to walk again.
The same goes for tools like kratom. It makes a good crutch while you’re working on healing your depression through holistic methods. However, you want to avoid using it for the rest of your life.
Yellow Elephant Kratom Dosage
Like most Kratom strains, Yellow Elephant produces very different effects depending on how much you take.
For the most part, however, Yellow Elephant is a fairly reliable relaxant.
Low doses can produce a bit of stimulation, but this usually fades quite quickly into relaxation.
Related: What’s the best dose of kratom?
1. Dose for Boosting Mood
One to four grams.
At this dosage range, you may be able to experience some of Yellow Elephant Kratom’s mild stimulating effects. This dose should also be strong enough to enhance your mood without bringing on sedation.
2. Dose for Anxiety Relief & Relaxation
Three to six grams.
In terms of energy, this dosage range is probably too high to provide anything but the briefest energy perk. However, these doses should be strong enough to squash your anxiety and produce some serious relaxation.
3. Dose for Sleep
Five to eight grams.
At this dosage range, Yellow Elephant Kratom shines as a sedative. You’ll probably also enjoy a mood boost and certainly shouldn’t have any anxiety. Just remember that higher doses like this are most likely to be so sedating that they’ll overpower any other effects.
How to Find the Ideal Dose For Your Body
Remember, the doses above our guidelines. Everybody is different, and it’s impossible to tell exactly how much kratom you’ll need to feel your desired effects.
Some people are highly sensitive to kratom and will need significantly lower doses. Other people are less sensitive and may require more.
Your age, metabolism, body weight, gender, diet, and many other factors will all influence how much kratom you need. You’ll need to experiment a little bit before you find the perfect dose.
You can expect this to take a little bit of time. Kratom can be quite finicky, and many users give up before they find their sweet spot. Small doses might be underwhelming, whereas high doses can cause unpleasant side effects that deter people from the plant.
By using a scale, you’ll be able to figure out exactly how much kratom you’re taking. Take notes on how you feel at which dosages, and you’ll be able to find out your optimum dose.
Once you figure out your optimum dosage range, you should make a point to stick with it.
Yellow Elephant Kratom Side Effects
Yellow Elephant Kratom is a powerful herb with many impressive benefits. It is a plant that deserves and demands respect. If you abuse or forget to respect kratom, you will learn quickly about its side effects.
Any powerful plant will have side effects, and anybody who tells you otherwise is deluded. Indeed, kratom isn’t as dangerous as pharmaceutical opiates or synthetic drugs.
Kratom can also be addictive if you don’t regulate your usage.
Cognitive Side Effects
Kratom can produce several cognitive and psychological side effects. These side effects generally become more pronounced when you use the herb daily for extended periods of time.
In the short term, kratom can cause a bit of brain fog when taken at high doses.
Some long-term users of kratom report some undesirable psychological side effects that occur with daily usage.
Heavy users sometimes find that kratom begins to impair their memory. And, many users who originally started using kratom as a crutch for anxiety were surprised to discover that it actually begins to cause anxiety after several months or years.
One might consider this a further reminder of the importance of using kratom as a temporary crutch. Just as with any herbal supplement, if you use kratom as a Band-Aid and avoid addressing your problems in the long term, they may just get worse.
Physical Side Effects
Kratom can also cause some unwanted physical side effects. Generally, these relate to the digestive system.
Nausea and vomiting can occur at high doses of kratom. Everyday users may also experience constipation. Any substance that operates on the opiate receptors can cause constipation as a side effect.
You may also experience dizziness, lethargy, and impaired balance as a result of Yellow Elephant kratom.
Addiction & Tolerance
If you use Yellow Elephant Kratom every day, then your body is going to build up a tolerance to it. This means that you’re going to have to take more and more to get the same effects.
Not only does this lead to kratom addiction, but it increases the risk of Yellow Elephant kratom‘s unpleasant side effects. If you start developing a tolerance, the responsible thing to do is decrease your dosage and take a break.

1. Green Elephant Kratom
Green elephant kratom is a more stimulating strain. It is comparable in strength to Yellow Elephant but less sedating overall.
2. Red Elephant Kratom
If you’re looking for full-on sedation and pain relief, then red elephant kratom may be the strain for you. Most red vein kratom strains, in general, are going to be more sedative but may also increase the chances of side effects like nausea.
3. Yellow Indo Kratom
Yellow Indo kratom is processed the same way as Yellow Elephant; however, the leaves are harvested exclusively from Indonesia. You may find that the alkaloid profile of Indonesian Kratom trees is more to your liking.
