Vendor Rating: 1
Sunstone Organics
A company rarely gets such a low rating from us. Usually, there’s some redeeming factor, something positive to highlight. However, a few businesses give us no reason to trust or recommend them.
In this case, the products are outrageously expensive, the website is poorly done and not secure, there’s no mention of lab testing, and no information on the company or people behind it.
Positive customer reviews can help balance some of these issues, but the overwhelming number of negative comments on Google help set this score in stone.
About the Company: Sunstone Organics
Sunstone Organics Kratom started in Pleasant Hill, OR. It conducts most of its business online but has a single retail location in Springfield, OR. In addition to its minimal presence on the west coast, it also ships to shops in Iowa and Kansas. Most of these retailers are gas stations and smoke shops, neither of which we recommend buying kratom from.
Sunstone has minimal company information available on what appears to be a heavily outdated and poorly done website. It doesn’t have much in the way of a backstory; it just mentions that its founders and employees are avid kratom users and seek to make this “miracle herb” available to all users who can benefit from it.
The product listing is minimal and, overall, very unimpressive. However, some companies maintain that the individual strains are just marketing schemes and only offer different kratom colors.
Sunstone sells a mix — including green kratom with no strain specified and individual strains, like White Maeng Da kratom. Overall, the mix of products available seems a bit unorganized.
- Some reviews say the customer service and products are good
- Expensive
- No AKA certification
- No mention of third-party lab testing
- Disorganized and unprofessional website
- Website is not secure
- Few strains offered
- Large number of very negative reviews

Sunstone Organics Product Reviews
Sunstone stocks a handful of kratom strains in powder and capsule form, although no other delivery methods are provided. We’ll list all of the products you can find from this company below if you want to try its kratom.
Kratom Leaf Powder
Kratom leaf powder is most users’ preferred delivery method. It’s made of crushed-up kratom leaves, making precise doses as straightforward as possible. It’s not the most pleasant way to consume kratom — given the bitter taste — but it is one of the more affordable options for delivery.
Sunstone Organics White Maeng Da Kratom
Maeng Da kratom is widely accepted to be one of the more potent kratom strains, with relatively high concentrations of the active alkaloids in kratom — mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine.
White Maeng Da kratom is often used for intense stimulation and nootropic effects, including improved mental acuity and focus. Many users find this strain is also good for pain relief, unlike most other white strains.
Price: 25 g for $14.99; 50 g for $24.99; 100 g for $41.99; 1 pound (around 450 g) for $130.00; or 1 kilogram (1,000 g) for $230.00
Sunstone Organics Red Maeng Da Kratom
Much like White Maeng Da, Red Maeng Da kratom is a potent strain. Most users note that the effects are noticeable but rarely become overwhelming, making this a suitable option for most beginners.
Red Maeng Da is a great strain for relieving pain, and given its potency, it might be suitable for sore muscles and mild pain, as well as more severe nerve pain. It can also be a good strain for relieving anxiety, especially since it provides minimal stimulation in most cases.
The high concentration of 7-hydroxymitragynine is the primary pain-relieving compound; it appears in high concentrations in this strain. It also tends to induce sleepiness, so this product is best for use at night or before bed.
Price: 25 g for $14.99; 50 g for $24.99; 100 g for $41.99; 1 pound (around 450 g) for $130.00; or 1 kilogram (1,000 g) for $230.00
Sunstone Organics Green Vein Kratom
As mentioned above, Sunstone provides some specific strain options, but most offerings are just based on strain color, like the green vein kratom.
Green kratom is known to provide a balance of effects that lies somewhere between white and red kratom. Most users find that it can induce bursts of energy and improved mental acuity, as well as mild pain relief and relaxation, especially in larger doses.
Green kratom is suitable for beginners, as it offers slightly more mild effects in both cases.
Price: 25 g for $14.99; 50 g for $24.99; 100 g for $41.99; 1 pound (around 450 g) for $130.00; or 1 kilogram (1,000 g) for $230.00
Other Strains Offered By Sunstone Organics
Sunstone provides access to a few other kratom strains, most of which are non-specific when it comes to strain and instead are sold by color. Below are all the options for kratom powder you can buy from this company.
The company also sells a sampler pack for $23.99, which includes 10 g of each of the following strains:
- Green Vein Kratom
- Maeng Da Kratom
- Red Vein Kratom
- White Vein Kratom
Kratom Capsules
Kratom capsules are a more convenient and enjoyable way to consume kratom powder for most users. These gel caps have kratom powder inside, so you can avoid the bitter and unpleasant taste of the powder. Capsules are more expensive than powder and don’t let you take precision doses.
Sunstone Organics Maeng Da Kratom Capsules
The Maeng Da capsules from this company provide easy access to the balanced effects most users get from Maeng Da kratom. These include a blend of White, Red, and Green Maeng Da kratom powders.
The capsules each contain 500 mg of kratom powder, so two would be the equivalent of taking 1 g of powder. These are small, relatively easy to swallow for simple dosing, and have good portability.
Some of the capsules are sold by weight. The site notes that the weight of the actual powder you get in the capsules is about 20% less than the total product weight due to the weight of the gel caps themselves.
Price: 20 capsules for $8.99; 60 capsules for $19.99; 150 capsules for $39.99; 1 pound for $130.00; or 1 kilogram/1,000 g for $230.00
Sunstone Organics White Vein Kratom Capsules
White vein kratom blends are a favorite among kratom users for the stimulative effects that tend to last for a few hours, on average.
The blend of different white-vein strains in these capsules can provide some relaxation in larger doses. Smaller amounts usually boost energy and improve mental performance for most users.
These capsules also contain 500 mg of powder each, which makes dosing relatively straightforward. However, they are pretty expensive, and you cannot get precision doses.
Price: 20 capsules for $8.99; 60 capsules for $19.99; 150 capsules for $39.99, 1 pound for $130.00; or 1 kilogram/1,000 grams for $230.00
Sunstone Organics White Maeng Da Kratom Capsules
Much like the White Maeng Da kratom powder, these capsules are most widely used for intense stimulation, especially at smaller doses.
Most white kratom doesn’t provide much for soothing pain and discomfort, but this strain does just that for many users in higher volumes. As such, this is a popular option among individuals looking to ease pain during the day, when red-vein strains would be more likely to cause drowsiness.
Price: 20 capsules for $8.99; 60 capsules for $19.99; 150 capsules for $39.99; 1 pound for $130.00; or 1 kilogram/1,000 g for $230.00
Is Sunstone Kratom Legit?
Sunstone Organics is an actual business that ships out products, so it’s not a total scam. However, we wouldn’t recommend Sunstone for a few reasons.
First off, Sunstone’s website is not secure. This means that all data sent to the website can be modified or stolen.
Second, Sunstone Organics isn’t forthcoming about the quality of its products. It doesn’t reference third-party testing for its powders or capsules, which is a red flag. Test results verify the quality of the product, and there are no test results to speak of for any of the products.
The only “quality control” mentioned is the following statement on the About Us page: “We don’t stock it without the approval of ourselves and plenty of other kratom users.” For us, that’s nowhere near good enough. We don’t even know who the “we” refers to, so why should anyone trust their opinions?
The American Kratom Association (AKA) also does not certify the company. The AKA verifies the legitimacy of kratom products offered by different vendors, and certification often instills confidence in kratom users.
Sunstone also doesn’t post any information about the kratom source or its processing.
Plus, Sunstone maintains far above-average pricing for all of its offerings. This isn’t always a deterrent, but it is for this provider since there is no verification of quality or consistency. In 2019, Sunstone voluntarily recalled some of its products due to possible salmonella contamination. One would think they would learn a lesson and provide proof of purity for the customers.
Reviews aren’t consistently positive — quite a few praise the customer service and the products. Still, there are plenty more claiming the customer service is horrible (one person went so far as to say an employee was toxic, and many others had the same sentiment) and the kratom is ineffective.
However, its policies aren’t explained in detail on its website, so we’re unsure of how receptive the company is to returns for products that don’t bring the level of satisfaction you expect.
Overall, we would recommend against ordering from Sunstone Organics. Plenty of other vendors go above and beyond to confirm the quality of their kratom powders and capsules, along with everything Sunstone fails to do.
What You Can Expect To Pay
As mentioned above, Sunstone’s pricing is above-average for the industry. It’s on par or even higher than some of the higher-quality kratom vendors. Still, without AKA certification and third-party test results, the quality is not worth the inflated pricing.
All of the loose kratom powder is available based on the following prices:
- 25 g for $14.99
- 50 g for $24.99
- 100 g for $41.99
- 1 pound (around 450 g) for $130.00
- 1 kilogram (1,000 g) for $230.00
- 1 sampler pack (10 g of each of four different strains) for $23.99
The kratom capsules are available based on the following pricing:
- 20 capsules for $8.99
- 60 capsules for $19.99
- 150 capsules for $39.99
- 1 pound for $130.00 (sold by weight — expect around 20% less kratom than buying loose powder)
- 1 kilogram/1,000 grams for $230.00 (sold by weight — expect about 20% less kratom than buying loose powder)
If you order from this company and decide that the quality is good enough to justify the high prices, you can save a bit by ordering powder or capsules in bulk. Opting for a kilogram of powder will save you around $0.37 per gram.
Accepted Payment Options
Unfortunately, Sunstone Organics only accepts checks and money orders.
Many kratom users prefer the convenience of paying by credit card, and some require the anonymity provided by using Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies or by choosing cash on delivery (COD). Sunstone doesn’t accept any of these options.
The company notes that it will ship out orders on the same day payment is received if you’re paying by money order. If you pay by check, Sunstone will wait for the payment to clear before sending out your product. This can take a few business days, causing delays in your shipment.
What Other Customers Say About This Brand
Some of the more popular kratom brands have many reviews online, but Sunstone Organics doesn’t have many reviews on trusted sites like Reddit.
The few posted reviews comment mostly about the high price of the products from this company.
One Reddit user, in particular, commented that the kratom from this company upset their stomach, while products from other, more reputable companies have not. Another Reddit user said Sunstone is “a head shop ****show of Kratom, wouldn’t touch it with a ten-foot pole.”
Customers have left plenty of reviews on Google, and many of them are overwhelmingly negative — not general complaints that any business could receive on an “off” day, but very specific ones about overly rude employees or kratom that makes them feel ill.
Shipping & Returns
This is another area where Sunstone Kratom falls short. It only offers a single shipping option: USPS flat-rate shipping. That means that it’s only made available to kratom users in the United States.
While this is a decent option that only costs $5.00 in most cases, it’s not useful for users looking to get their kratom quickly. If you’re in a pinch and need to restock in a day or two, you’ll need to turn elsewhere.
The company does offer free shipping on larger orders, but it doesn’t state where the weight or price cutoff is to get free shipping. Free shipping is provided when you order in bulk, which is a nice option that helps you save money.
The company has a return option, although the terms and conditions listed on the website don’t mention what products can and cannot be returned. It’s unclear if you can return powder or capsules that you’re dissatisfied with.
With that being said, there is an option for returning opened products. We’d love to see more transparency about what Sunstone will and will not accept as far as returns.
Best Alternative Kratom Vendors
Sunstone Organics is far from the most reputable kratom provider, so we have a hard time recommending its products. We suggest turning elsewhere for your kratom, specifically to a provider offering more transparency about its products and shipping and return policies. Below, we’ll include some of our top recommendations for more reputable and reliable kratom vendors.
VIP Kratom
VIP Kratom
VIP Kratom is an online-only vendor that is priced above average as well. However, unlike Sunstone Kratom, VIP is far more transparent about its products and services. It includes third-party lab results for every product it sells, and the company is AKA-certified.
VIP also accepts returns of opened and unopened products; everything comes with a satisfaction guarantee. This alone instills far more confidence than a company like Sunstone.
VIP has a wide selection of strain-specific offerings as well, so most users will be able to find something that suits them rather than only getting access to blends.
Pros
- Outstanding quality
- AKA-certified company
- Great selection
- Solid return policy
- Customer satisfaction guarantee
- Third-party test results available for all products
Cons
- More expensive than many competitors
Star Kratom
Star Kratom
Star Kratom is an excellent option for a more affordable but premium kratom experience. It stocks a decent array of strains in capsule and powder form, and you get options in single strains and blends.
Star Kratom is another vendor that guarantees your satisfaction. It can do so because it puts everything through a rigorous testing protocol and provides third-party test results for each product online.
Star Kratom is AKA-certified, accepts more payment options than Sunstone, and offers different shipping options for different delivery speeds.
Pros
- Excellent quality
- Trusted vendor
- AKA-certified
- Lab results available for all products
- Satisfaction guarantee
- Very affordable
Cons
- Not the best selection of strains
Kona Kratom
Kona Kratom
Kona Kratom is one of our top recommendations if you’re looking for a good blend of quality and affordability. It has a solid reputation in the kratom industry, provides test results for its products, and maintains AKA certification.
Kona has a better selection of strains than Star Kratom, and it offers them in both powder and capsule form. Although it’s a bit more expensive than some other vendors, the potency and quality you get for the money make it an excellent value.
Pros
- Outstanding quality
- Highly-trusted name in the industry
- 30-day satisfaction guarantee
- Test results available for all products
- Good selection of strains
- AKA-certified
Cons
- Shipping is a bit slower than some other providers
Final Thoughts: Why We Recommend Against Sunstone Organics
Sunstone Organics has a small selection of kratom strains available for above-average pricing. While we typically believe high prices are justified if the quality is above-average, we’re not sold that Sunstone brings the quality and customer satisfaction that the prices demand.
Sunstone is not AKA-certified and doesn’t post lab results for its products online. Even more of an issue is that the website does not mention conducting lab testing. In an industry full of less-than-reputable companies that sell potentially unsafe kratom that lacks potency, these are major red flags, in our opinion.
We strongly recommend you opt for a different company that goes above and beyond to ensure quality and customer satisfaction, especially at these prices. If you’re looking for a reliable vendor and a safe, high-quality product, we recommend companies like VIP Kratom, Star Kratom, or Kona Kratom.
