Shake Up Your Kratom Routine With These Simple Drinks

Those of us who aren’t lucky enough to have kratom trees in our backyard usually buy kratom powder.

Unfortunately, this has a bitter taste that can be very unpleasant when taken alone.

This article covers the best premixed kratom drinks so you never have to deal with that harsh flavor again.

Our Favorite Kratom Drinks

Kratom comes in many forms, but the most popular by far is kratom leaf powder. This product form goes through fewer processes, often making it purer and less expensive. The only trade-off is that the taste may be too bitter for many people.

Some users grow accustomed to the taste and simply take kratom powder with a gulp of water. Others brew tea with it, but the powder gives it a gritty texture, and it’s better to use whole leaves instead. The best solution is to mix the powder with sweeter beverages.

The best part is that the only limit is your imagination. Some users swear by mixing kratom with citrus beverages, while others prefer milk. However, you shouldn’t mix kratom with alcohol, as it can produce dangerous side effects.

Some kratom drink mixes have great flavor, while others are just convenient or interact positively with the active compounds of kratom. Below we will explain some of them in no particular order.

Note that the texture will still be gritty, and you’ll have to stir your drink often.

1. Kratom Tea Concentrate

Kratom tea is one of the oldest ways to use this herb, and locals have enjoyed it for centuries. This usually involves brewing the leaves or using powder and then straining it.

You can also brew standard black or green tea, then add the powder. The texture is still rough, but it hides the taste well. This is my favorite way to take kratom, but adding lemon is key to making it tolerable. A sweetener like honey would also work well. Keep stirring and chug it.

2. Orange Juice + Kratom

For many reasons, mixing kratom with orange juice is a favorite in the community. First, it’s simply delicious, especially if you make the juice yourself instead of buying it elsewhere. Taking orange juice and kratom is a great way to start the day.

Another reason is that orange juice can reportedly lengthen kratom’s effects. This mix could be for you if you take kratom for its energizing qualities.

3. Hot Chocolate Kratom

This option may come as a surprise, but it’s also popular among the kratom community. One of the reasons is that the density of whole milk covers the powder’s grittiness. Vegans have options, too — creamy products like coconut milk work best.

Furthermore, the chocolate flavor goes well with kratom. The mix creates an earthy-tasting chocolate that’s very palatable. Because of this, it’s not unusual to find chocolate-flavored kratom on the market.

4. Grapefruit Juice + Kratom

There is misinformation about how grapefruit juice strengthens the potency of kratom, but while it isn’t true, it can make the effects last longer. It happens because the same enzyme absorbs both substances, and their metabolization slows down when they are present at the same time.

Some people may find that desirable, but it can lead to severe side effects and even addiction. As research remains limited, you should consult your doctor if you have doubts. If you try this mix, use it as a special treat instead of something regular.

5. Lemonade + Kratom

We added this drink to the list because it’s easy to find and delicious, but any citrus drink combines great with kratom. The strong citrus flavor hides the bitterness of kratom, and the acidity will wake you up if that’s why you’re taking this herb.

Some in the community think the acidity of citrus drinks can increase the potency of kratom. We couldn’t find scientific literature to back this up, but that doesn’t mean this drink mix isn’t worth trying. A cold lemonade with kratom will improve any summer day.

6. Kratom Coffee

This combination isn’t for the faint of heart — it has a complex flavor and, with the proper dosing, can be a powerful stimulant. We only recommend mixing coffee and kratom if you have an increased tolerance for the side effects of both substances.

Hot beverages like this can burn away the alkaloids that give kratom its effects. To avoid that, let your coffee get colder before adding your kratom. You can use cold-brewed coffee too.

7. Kratom Kombucha

This mix could be your best option if you like natural, fizzy drinks. Kombucha is a sweet tea fermented with yeast and bacteria with a vast source of probiotics and antioxidants.

You can prepare this beverage at home, but it’s an elaborate process comparable to making sourdough bread from nothing. We recommend you buy pre-made kombucha first to ensure you like the mix before experimenting.

8. Kratom Vanilla Protein Shake

Mixing kratom powder with a thick beverage is the best way to eliminate the powder’s grittiness, and few drinks are as thick as protein shakes. The vanilla flavor is strong enough to cover the bitter taste of kratom, but other flavors like chocolate work too.

This mix can be great for people into fitness or who are gym regulars. The protein shake will help you grow stronger, and the kratom makes a great pre-workout. Whey protein is preferable, and you’ll have to choose between water or milk.

9. Powdered Drinks + Kratom

These drinks aren’t particularly healthy, but they do their job as a way to take kratom. They have large amounts of sugar that will cover the bitter taste, and if you choose an acidic flavor, they’ll even improve it.

Since many come in powder form, these drinks are convenient to take with kratom. Simply mix both powders, add some cool water, and mix it all together.

Can I Mix Kratom With Alcohol?

In short, you should never mix kratom and alcohol.

We have covered only non-alcoholic drinks so far and for a good reason. While you could be tempted to mix these two substances for flavor, to get a buzz, or counteract alcohol’s sedating properties, it would be counterproductive.

Mixing kratom and alcohol is harmful for several reasons. For one, they share many of the same side effects, like dizziness and nausea, and they become more likely if you use them together. For another, both could affect your liver in the long run.

And even if you mix them just once, kratom in small doses acts the same as caffeinated beverages. Coffee and energy drinks slow down the side effects of alcohol, allowing you to drink more. In turn, it can lead to an alcohol overdose before you realize it.

Best Kratom Vendors

It doesn’t matter what type of drink you use if you mix it with low-quality kratom. The market is flooded with vendors trying to make a quick buck by selling kratom that’s ineffective at best and downright dangerous at worst.

The American Kratom Association (AKA) is trying to combat this, and they created a set of industry standards for vendors to follow. By joining them, each vendor ensures their products are safe and high-quality.

Below, you’ll find some of the best and safest kratom vendors in the current market. They are legit and won’t disappoint you.

Instead, this vendor shows excellent transparency by having an entire section of their website dedicated to lab test results, along with printing the alkaloid percentages on each package.

Summary: Get Creative, Try a New Kratom Drink

Kratom powder is the most popular way to take kratom, but it can also be an unsavory experience. However, many users found ways around it, and one of the most popular is to mix the powder with flavorful drinks. The ones with a strong taste or thick texture are best. Some kratom users swear by citrus drinks such as orange juice or lemonade, while others prefer thick, creamy mixes like hot chocolate or protein shakes. Everything is on the table for you to try, except alcoholic drinks, as they could lead to adverse side effects.
